After SPM examination , before the results were out, my good friend got married. Three months later when the candidates went to school to get the results, you could hear the buzzing of comments and gossips.

“What? She got married already?”

“Did your hear that her husband is ten years older than her?”

“He married her because he wanted to go to London to further his studies. He wanted a wife to take care of his domestic needs.”

“She is beautiful, why must she marry an old man!”

“Why are you jealous of her being married? Go get yourself a husband if possible a young man!”

“But her result is not good, so its better that she get married.’

At that time in the 1960’s (40 years ago), to be able to go to London is superb and awesome, even by just following your husband. How lucky the girl is. She was even luckier because her result was not the best in school.

She stayed in London for 10 years and came back. We met. She’s a happy wife and
a mother of four , 3 sons and a daughter. 57 years old now.

Her three sons are a famous singing group. Own a production house. Produced box-office movies and many other business ventures.

They are very enterprising. They are actively involve in construction and a lot of other businesses. I think they are millionaires now.

CIKGUTANYA: Lucky girl! Before if the man is 10 years older means he is very old.
Nowadays if the man is 20 years older , he is a good catch especially if he is a Dato’ or a Tan Sri!
